Last year a friend of mine told me about an application that produces random art by tracking the movements of your mouse while working on a computer. He sent me some screen shots of the random art produced and the link to download the free app. Yeah I said it, 100% free. There is an area to donate if you feel so inclined. The application is called “IOGraphica.”
Bellow is the description of the app from the actual site:
“IOGraph — is an application that turns mouse movements into modern art. The idea is that you have the program running in the background while doing your usual daily stuff at the computer. Go back to IOGraph after a while and grab a nice picture of what you’ve done! It’s fun, useless and totally free!”
After seeing a few samples of the art produced I new I needed this app right away. So I immediately navigated to the site, IOGprahica.com, downloaded the free app, loaded it on my work computer, and started recording everyday.
Here are a few samples of the random art that were created from my work computer that ranged from 5-8 hours working within Adobe Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop, and a few other programs. I have to say that the results for me were more than satisfying. I use these as backgrounds now for my computer and as conversation pieces.
This one I inverted the colors in Photoshop. There is not an option for a black background and white lines/circles. You have to do a little extra to achieve this one.
Pretty cool, right?
If anyone interesting in random art or just tracking their mouse movements I would check this app out. It is totally free and well fun.
Hopefully the samples above will inspire you to give it a try.
