Basket Weave Texture (Drawing #4)

I was searching for something to draw for day number 4 and I was coming up short. In my need for an idea I surfed the web in search of some drawing exercises that could spark my imagination. Low and behold I did not latch on to any of the drawing exercises. However, I did manage to squeak something out. But to my chagrin it is not quite clear to me how I decided that drawing a basket weave texture was the route for me.

In any event for my drawing number 4 we have the lovely basket weave texture! Enjoy.

Triangles, Hexagons, and Cubes! Oh My! (Drawing #3)

Inspiration for this lovely thing of a drawing comes directly from a triangular pattern I came across. As I stared at the pattern and blinked a little my brain began to piece the triangles together to form hexagons and then cubes. Using my powers of imagination I added in my own mental shadows to create a three dimensional object directly in my mind. Then I thought, “Hey… I should draw that.” And I did.

At first you will just see a flat image, but squint and you will begin to see a three dimensional object with defined planes. I made sure to keep things interesting by strategically adding the shadows in certain areas.

Give it a try.
